You know when sometimes expensive scooters fail in acceleration department and have low-end acceleration. Fortunately, this is not the thing at the Mantis Pro SE. This electric scooter accelerates from 0 to 15 mph in just 2 seconds. I must admit that this is very impressive and fits more to some expensive off-road electric scooters.

Also, despite good acceleration you will not experience that jerky start, it accelerates fast and buttery.

The Mantis Pro SE has a top speed of 45 mph and it’s incredible. It’s possible thanks to its powerful dual 2000 watt motor which makes the SE so alive and strong.

Also, what impresses me is its maximum range of 45 miles on a single charge. One would expect that so powerful scooter drains the batteries much faster. This problem is solved with high quality and high capacity 60V, 24Ah LG batteries. There is also 18.2Ah battery which is also good and delivers maximum range of 40 miles on a single charge. I always prefer those with the highest capacity. When the battery drains you will need 9 to 12 hours to fully recharge it. Luckily, with fast charger this time decreases to only 5 hours.

Braking

The brakes on the Mantis Pro SE feel amazing. It uses Zoom full hydraulic brake calipers and brake levers and they are super quiet, which I love.

Suspension

Riding on the Mantis Pro SE feels heavenly. Front dual dual suspension and rear air shock suspension create the feel like you are riding over the clouds. It’s maybe the most obvious where you realize this is a purposefully designed scooter.

Portability

What people from Kaabo are especially proud of is the quality of the materials and design solutions. And when it comes to portability it’s the same. The folding mechanism and stem shape are nicely designed. Thanks to a reinforced jagged stem and stronger hinge bolt you’ll be safe while riding it even when you brake at high speed, and on the other side there is no problem to fold the scooter in just a few seconds and proceed carrying it in a hand.

However, the Mantis Pro SE weighs 65 lbs or 30 kg, and you must admit that it’s pretty heavy even for the strongest riders, at least when you have to carry it for a longer period of time. So, foldable design is a plus, but it’s portability reaches one flight of stairs and that’s it. After all, it was not built for carrying, this is a scooter to ride on.

Also, remember that handlebars don’t fold and that may be a problem if you need to squeeze it into the trunk of a smaller car.

Cockpit

The cockpit of the Mantis Pro SE resembles to a spaceship. Just joking, there is a lot of buttons and levers but you will fight them with ease thanks to an ergonomical design. It features pretty straightforward cockpit.

Handle grips are covered with foam for more pleasant feeling during the long rides. On both, left and right handle you can see hydraulic brake levers, one for each brake. On the right handle you will find two button with marks ECO/TURBO on upper one and SINGLE/DUAL on lower one. With these buttons you can select riding modes (TURBO for more power) and single or dual motor engagement (DUAL for maximum performance and speed). Just remember that with dual motor engagement and in turbo mode battery drains much faster.

The thing that I loved the most at the Mantis Pro SE is finger controlled throttle instead of thumb controlled. Why? Well, when you ride a scooter for a longer period of time, finger controlled throttle is more pleasant and easier to use in case that it’s positioned on the apro0priate place, and at the Mantis Pro SE it’s on the right place. The throttle feels high quality and smooth, and you’ll never have to worry about cramped hands with this scooter.

LCD display is on the right side and it shows all the crucial information like battery status, speed, distance traveled, riding mode, lights etc. On the left handle beside brake lever you can see light button to engage lights.

Lights

The Mantis Pro SE is fully loaded with lights. It features front deck lights, side panel lights and rear deck lights and 2022 version has installed turn signal lights. This is helpful for being seen from a distance and it looks very cool during the night rides.

Tires

On both, front and rear wheel the Mantis Pro SE has 10 inch pneumatic tires, Together with full suspension system they provide extra grip and comfort during the ride. The only downside to pneumatic tires is the risk of flats.

Deck The Standing deck is wide and covered with silicone grip mat for better traction and stability during the ride. Thanks to that it grip as well as grip tape, even in wet condition.
