For some time now, I have been thinking about how to present one of the most unusual and best off-road electric bikes, without omitting some important detail or diminishing its magnificence. You guessed it, this is a Delfast TOP 3.0 electric bike with amazing features and capabilities.
This unique electric bike comes from Ukraine. At the moment, when someone mentions Ukraine, you probably think of Russian tanks on the streets and the resistance of the Ukrainian people. However, in this review of the Delfast TOP 3.0 e-bike, which looks more like a motorcycle than an electric bike, we won’t be talking about bad things. This superior e-bike is available worldwide, including the USA, and delivery is free.
At first glance, I was impressed and it was clear to me that the Delfast TOP 3.0 is not like other electric bikes. I have the impression that it is a motorcycle, perhaps because it has built-in motorcycle tires. In short, the Delfast TOP 3.0 has a carbon fiber belt drive that sends power from the electric motor to the rear wheel. As a power source it uses a 72 V 48 Ah Panasonic 3200 mah battery. This battery powers an incredible 3000 W motor with a peak output of 5000 W and 182 Nm of torque. Thanks to this, it achieves amazing results and is able to reach a top speed of 50 mph. It can travel up to 200 miles on a single charge, and thanks to the pedal assist function, it can also be ridden like an ordinary bicycle, if you feel like pedaling at all when you sit on a beast like this.
Delfast TOP 3.0 is not intended for highways and urban environments. It is built for a premium off-road experience. Full color display, USB connection, mirrors and turn signals, start/stop button, hydraulic brakes, full pack lights, GPS and anti-theft system are some of the features that come with this e-bike. Of course, with these features comes a higher price of $ 6649. Of course, it is immediately clear that this model is intended for professionals and experienced riders, so if you do not belong to these groups do not even think about it. You can check main specs on Delfast TOP 3.0 e-bike or just keep reading this review for more detailed info.
Dirt Bike Design and Superior Features
As I said before Delfast TOP 3.0 has a design that resembles more to dirt bikes than e-bikes. One of the details that reveals that this is an e-bike are the pedals. The core of the Delfast TOP 3.0 design is a reinforced high-tensile steel frame that perfectly withstands all loads while driving off-road terrains. Of course, the steel frame also means more weight, and the weight of this model is 158 lbs. It goes without saying that you will not even try to carry such a beast in your hands. You will need to engage a pickup or other vehicle to transport it to the terrain where you plan to ride. Therefore, heavy weight is not a big problem.
Since it is an extreme e-bike and its equipment is extreme in many aspects, of course I think this in the most positive sense. To make driving as comfortable as possible Delfast TOP 3.0 is equipped with a front double’T fork and rear shock absorber. Also, 19″ 80/100 motorcycle tires assure TOP 3.0 to perform well on off-road surfaces, but also on asphalt roads.
For power transfer, Delfast TOP 3.0 uses Gates carbon belt instead of the chain present at similar competing models. This ensures better motor performance. Beside that, it has some prety standadr features present at dirt bikes like fenders, mirrors, and full light pack consisting of direction indicators, front light with high/low beam and rear automatic stop light. This way you can use it on night rides.
Also, the controls are well placed and clear. In the central part, there is a full-color LCD display on which you can monitor the speed, mileage, battery status, and you can connect it all to the Delfast App on your smartphone. There is a start / stop button just below the LCD display. On the left handle there are controls for lights and turn signals, and a horn button.
Delfast TOP 3.0 is equipped with Double hydraulic line Tektro HD-E525 brakes with double discs on the front wheel and single disc on the rear wheel (all discs are 203 mm). In addition, it has a security system that consists of an alarm and a motor blocking feature in case someone tries to start it without authorization.
What I liked the best are its range and speed. The 3000 W motor with peak output of 5000 W is so powerful and superior that riding over harsh terrains will feel like nothing. Top speed of 50 mph is very impressive, but be aware, if you are using Delfast TOP 3.0 for off-road riding you just won’t be able to achieve that speed.
Also, if you ride it on top speed using throttle only mode or over difficult terrains the battery drains much faster and 200 miles on a single charge may seem distant. But, if you keep speed around 25 mph and on less demanding terrains it’s achievable, especially with pedal assist mode. Pedal only mode is possible, but trust me, you won’t be doing much on pedal only mode.
