Ecotric Hammer Fat Tire Mountain e-Bike Review: Sexy Lines and Durability

When you look at Hammer you must notice its robust frame and design from top to bottom. Everything, from the 6061 aluminium alloy frame, 26″ fat tires, LCD smart display, just screams power. The centerpiece of this model is the powerful Rear Hub 1000W motor for maximum speed of 21 mph. Of course, that much power consumes a lot of electricity. The 48V 13Ah battery is a reliable power source. On fully charged battery you can ride the Hummer up to 45 miles with pedal assist mode. However, if you use Throttle only mode maximum range drops to around 25 miles, which is more than satisfying and I am pleasantly surprised. The Ecotric Hammer is affordable bike and costs $1,479.99, so price/performance ratio is better than expected.
Design and Features of Ecotric Hammer e-Bike
Weighing in at 73 lbs, the Ecotric Hammer is not the lightest fat tire e-bike you ever met, but it’s not to complicate to manipulate and carry it if needed (up the stairs or very steep inclines). This way the rider won’t have any problems with the weight.
The uniquely designed tubes of the Hammer with the distinctive bend in the top tube instil you with confidence based on looks alone. The front looks very tall just standing there. However, once you take a seat, it doesn’t feel tall at all.
While climbing on forest service roads and more moderate terrain, the Hammer performs well. Remember, it’s not a top notch mountain e-bike, But it feels steady and robust while on the bike. The motor easily reaches the 10 mph assistance threshold within seconds on almost every incline.
One nice feature of Hammer e-bike is programmable speed, so it is hard to define top speed of this model. However, while riding it I have concluded that the top speed is around 20 mph, since I couldn’t make it to run faster. This is more than enough for off-road driving and it is in consistence with numerous competing, and often more expensive models.
The design of Hammer enables it to glide over obstacles on the descents and instil you with confidence. But, try not to lean to much over a steering handles , because it will pull your weight forward on steep downhills making it difficult to slow down or bring to a stop.
Motor, Battery, Speed and Range of Ecotric Hammer
As already said, the Hammer uses powerful 1000 W rear-hub motor powered with 48V 13Ah battery. This is more than enough to reach top speed of 20 mph (it’s difficult to assess top speed since this model is equipped with programmable top speed). Programmable top speed is introduced as a way to apply to a local regulations of each country, since allowed top speed for e-bikes are not the same in all countries. This way a rider can easily adapt their top speed to the safety regulations in any country.
When it comes to range it goes up to 45 miles on a single charge, and this is if you are using pedal assist mode. If you are on throttle only mode maximum range drops to 25 miles on a single charge. After the battery drains you will need 6 to 8 hour to fully recharge the battery.
Also, if your battery runs out of juice you can use pedal only mode and ride it like any other classic bike. 7-speed Shimano gear will help you to overcome inclines with no sweat in this situation.
