Design and Features od the Segway GT1 SuperScooter
As Segway continues to push the boundaries of ground transportation, their latest offering, the GT1 scooter, has won the hearts of many with its exceptional design and build quality. It comes equipped with dual adjustable suspension, an ultra-sized deck, and plush air-filled tires, making it a smooth and comfortable ride no matter where you go. The torquey motors allow for easy acceleration even on hills, and the self-healing tires ensure safe passage in tough conditions. The dual hydraulic disk braking system is one of the best available, providing a safe stop whenever needed.
From the moment you lay eyes on the GT1’s deck, you’ll fall in love with its long and wide dimensions. At 27″ x 9.5″, the footplate provides ample space for comfortable foot positioning, even allowing riders to shuffle their feet mid-ride. The textured rubber padding ensures a firm grip, enhancing ride comfort.
The GT scooters’ cockpit design is innovative and adds to the machines’ edgy aesthetics. Although the PM OLED is exclusive to the GT2 model, the GT1’s conventional screen is still functional and displays necessary information in a readable format. The well-organized cockpit layout with easy-to-reach buttons and controls ensures a comfortable riding experience.
The display is centrally-located and it add to the overall racing-style cockpit aesthetics. It provides essential information such as battery status, different riding modes, light status, cruise function, speed, and turning signal lights. However, note that the handlebars are already loaded with controls, leaving no room for accessory devices like phone holders.
Additionally, the Segway app adds an extra layer of functionality, allowing riders to activate zero-start, customize ambient lights, and even use the brakes and throttle simultaneously. The app also features Sentinel mode, an anti-theft mechanism that locks the wheels in place and sounds an alarm if anyone tries to move the scooter without permission.
But it’s not just about aesthetics; the GT1 is built to last. The aircraft-grade aluminum alloy body is durable and sleek, with concealed wiring that adds to its neat look.
Motor, Speed, Range and Battery of the Segway GT1 SuperScooter
The GT1 is a single-motor scooter that packs a punch when it comes to tackling steep inclines. This makes it an excellent option for riders who need a little extra boost when navigating hilly terrain. It features an amazing 3000W maximum motor power, 37.3mph top speed, 7.5-second 0-30mph acceleration, and 43.5 mile range.
While the advertised range for the GT1 is 43.5 miles, our tests showed that it only lasts around 25 miles on Race mode due to its relatively small battery. It comes with four-speed modes, including Park, Walk, Eco, Sport, and Race modes. While the Boost mode is not present on the GT1, it is available on the GT2 model.
However, running the scooter in Sport or Eco modes can extend its range, albeit with slightly different performance levels. It’s worth noting that manufacturers often quote range under ideal conditions, so expect lower results in reality.
This model is equipped with a 52V, 1008 Wh battery that powers the scooter’s motor. While the battery does get quite hot during use, Segway has installed vents that allow cool air passage to prevent overheating and preserve its lifespan. Charging the battery takes 12 hours on a single charger, but you can reduce this time to 6 hours by using the two chargers that come with the scooter and the dedicated dual-charging port. We recommend avoiding fast charging as it can decrease the battery’s lifespan.
It features impressive acceleration, allowing for moderate starts without sudden jerky movements. As you increase speed, the acceleration packs a punch, making it a real racing machine. Segway claims that the GT1 can reach 30 mph within 7.5 seconds. This puts it in competition with some of the fastest light-heavyweight e-scooters on the market.
Segway is committed to providing customers with the highest quality electric scooters, unicycles and other personal electric vehicles. The GT1 model features an industry-leading lighting profile, with a 900-lumen main headlight that can project a beam up to 80 meters ahead. It also offers LED daytime running lights and turn signal lights embedded in the back of the deck for added visibility. To ensure maximum safety during night rides, the GT1 is equipped with a centrally located tail/brake light.
The Segway app provides an easy-to-use interface for riders to customize their experience with 11 different lighting modes. Additionally, professional grade E-mark certified reflectors provide the ultimate safety when riding at night.
The GT1 is outfitted with self-healing tires that come pre-slimed, allowing riders to take it out on an adventure right away. These 11 x 3.6 inch tires provide excellent ride quality, grip and stability, control and steering, and the wide profile ensures maximum traction between the wheel and road. Furthermore, the height of these tires allows the scooter to roll over obstacles without scraping its underbelly. All in all, this makes for a professional riding experience that is sure to impress.
The Segway GT1 delivers an exceptional ride experience, thanks to its motorcycle-style twist throttle and top-tier lighting system. The front double wishbone suspension is the focal point of its aesthetics, blending form and function seamlessly. The GT1 combines style, comfort, and performance in a unique way that sets it apart from other electric scooters on the market.
When it comes to braking, the GT1 is a standout performer. The front and rear hydraulic disc brakes give riders total control over stopping, with the powerful braking system outperforming other top brands like Kaboo and Varla. The design features small and thick 140 mm rotors, which are less grabby and less susceptible to bending, warping, and overheating. The Segway App also offers an expert-only feature that disables ‘brake priority,’ allowing riders to apply both throttle and brake simultaneously.
The GT1 is the perfect choice for professional riders looking for an electric scooter, unicycle, or personal vehicle. Its powerful hydraulic disc brakes offer total control over stopping, with 140 mm rotors that are less likely to suffer from warping or overheating.
