Design and Features

Since Gotrax GKS is a scooter for kids and younger riders, you might expect it doesn’t develop significant speeds. And when you compare it to top scooters capable of speeding over 30 mph that’s correct. But believe us, the maximum speed of this scooter is more than enough for children who are just learning to ride. It is 7,5 mph, and thanks to a safety lock that limits the maximum speed your child won’t lose control of the scooter while driving. Its speed of 7,5 mph is more than enough for kids and riders who get on a scooter for the first time, and the impression while driving it is that the speed is much higher.

Thanks to the 150 W motor, 25 V Li-ion battery and very light construction of the Gotrax GKS, the speed could be even higher, but the safety lock makes this impossible. The maximum range, when the battery is fully charged, is 4 miles or about 40 minutes of continuous driving. It takes up to 5 hours to fully charge the battery, and that is one of our main objections about this scooter.

The good side is that when the battery is low you can use the Gotrax GKS as a standard kick scooter as well as other kick scooters that are not battery powered. When used with a battery it is enough to push off with one foot and place the other foot on the sensor, which is placed on the standing board, and speed up to 7,5 mph. This scooter uses a rear stop brake that is activated by a simple foot pressure, so it’s easy to use. The rear bumper is simply pressed with the foot against 6″ solid rubber tire, and the friction slows down and stops the scooter.

Recommended Age and Weight Limit

The Gotrax GKS electric scooter has extremely light construction and weighs only 17.8 lbs. This allows your kid to easily lift and carry it around. It is available in 5 different colors and the manufacturer recommends it to children between 6 and 12 years of age, which we agree with. The maximum weight of the driver should not exceed 154 lbs.
