The Hiboy S2R is a fantastic and upgraded urban electric scooter for those wanting bigger riding range and a comfortable ride at a reasonable price. It is effectively upgraded, bigger and better version of the previous variant Hiboy S2 with all of the shortcomings ironed out.
It’s important to point out that Hiboy S2R is effectively a significantly upgraded version of the successful Hiboy S2 electric scooter. That means it has almost identical styling to the S2. The battery remains under the deck, but this time it’s more accessible and easier to replace, so you can double the riding time in just few seconds. We could say that S2R is somewhere between S2 and S2 Pro.
At this model, Hiboy have picked over all the small flaws in the S2 and ironed them out. Design, Features and Ride of Hiboy S2R
As mentioned, the overall design is based on the S2 frame, but there are a number of significant differences. The obvious ones include color touches on the wheel area. Eye catchy red details are giving more sporty look. Also, But some less obvious differences include innovative battery technology. Battery cells are under the deck, but this time, with just one twist of a key you will be able to take them out and put new ones. This way maximum range doubles in just few seconds. Of course, you will need to have extra battery pack for this feature.
The S2R has 8.5″ solid rubber tires which are puncture resistant and self-healing. 8.5 inch wheels with solid tires guarantees a better ride than the vast majority of electric scooters on the market. However, one major disappointment was absence of suspension. Suspension would definitely improve ride quality, but even without suspension it’s pretty good and more than adequate for most urban surfaces.
As with any other modern urban electric scooter, S2R is portable, foldable and lightweight. It weighs 30.8 lbs, so there will be no problems to carry it around if needed. Thanks to fast folding mechanism consisting of one-touch latch the rider needs less than 5 seconds to fully fold or unfold the S2R. After that you will have no problem to carry it or store in trunk of your car.
It features responsive brakes with the regenerative front brake feeding energy back into the battery. Further featuring a handy LED display to help monitor speed, battery life, riding modes and more. Riders can even connect to the Hiboy S2 App and lock their scooter, monitor the speed or customize it.
Bright LED headlights and taillights are nice safety touch, providing more than enough light to see and to be seen during the night. It’s important to have quality headlights and taillights to be more secure while riding it.
Motor, Battery, Speed and Range of Hiboy S2R
Top speed for this scooter is 19 mph but, as the battery drains, it has tendency to slow a bit. However, this is common in many electric scooters. It Features 350 W brushless motor powered by Lithium-Ion 36 V, 7.5 Ah battery pack. I expected this feature to be greater than at the S2. It seems that this time people at Hiboy decided to go with the same power and battery source, but with upgraded detachable and replaceable battery system.
How this battery system works? Easy, just use the key to unlock battery holder, open the lid and extract the battery. After that you can insert replacement battery pack and prolong the ride for extra 17 miles. I almost forget to say that the maximum range on fully charged battery is 17 miles. So, with replacement battery pack you can double the range.
