Turboant is more commonly known for their popular and inexpensive Turboant X7 Pro electric scooters. But the company has recently moved into the electric bicycle market with their T1 fat tire electric bike and Swift S1 folding electric bike. Today we decided to show you in-depth analysis of their Swift S1 which is ideal as both city commuter and off-road explorer.
The Turboant Swift S1 may look like a standard folding electric bike, but there are some important differences when compared to most run-of-the-mill electric bikes. The Shift S1 departs from the rest of the pack with its battery design and comfortable controls, powerful 750 W motor and 20-inch fat all-terrain tires and enhanced range up to 60 miles.
At $1499, it is not one of the most affordable folding electric bikes on the market, but it is deffinitely one of the best at the moment. Considering all the high end equipment and features it is even cheaper than most similar competing fat tire folding electric bike brands. There are cheaper folding e-bikes out there, but they generally have much smaller wheels and lower top speeds. With 20″ wheels and a max speed of 20 mph, the Swift S1 a top runner in the niche.

Main Features and Riding of Turboant Swift S1
The Swift S1 is feels like a well constructed and powerful e-Bike able to conquer all-terrains. However, make notice that this is not a full sized mountain electric bike but rather an all-terrain recreational e-Bike for daily users and recreational riders. You won’t be able to di stunts or racing through forest on this bike. It has its limitations.
On the other hand, it offers pretty comfortable and fun riding experience, especially because it features long battery life of up to 60 miles on a single charge. Thanks to powerful 750 W motor and 7-speed Shimano thumb shifter no terrain will remain unconquered. With a press of a button, you can swift between speeds easily from gear 1 to 7, which is very useful on uphills or when your battery runs out when you can use the Swift S1 as a regular bike. The Swift S1 has a decent amount of adjustability, including saddle height and handlebar height.
As with the most of electric bikes you have to pedal for a second or so before the thumb throttle becomes active. This is a cost and energy-saving measure designed into majority of electric bikes and scooters. Once you’re moving, you have full control of the throttle, even after braking (just don’t come to a full stop). The motor immediately kicks in speeding the bike to top speed of 20 mph in no time. The 750 w Bafang motor impressed me with its ability to reach maximum speed in just a few seconds. The producer states that the Swift S1 is able to reach top speed in just 3 seconds. I am at close to the maximum weight limit and I reached top speed in 3 seconds or so (keep in mind that this test was conducted on slight downhill, on uphills you won’t be able to reach this speed so easy and you will need to use pedal assist to the maximum). There are 5 pedal assist (PAS) levels enabling easy adjustment.
The half-twist throttle is nicely designed compared to most throttles I’ve tried. It has a more ergonomic design, though it does take some time to get used to if you’re more familiar with the typical thumb throttles. In no time you will get to it. Also, there is safety throttle lock.
The Swift S1 has adjustable front fork for more comfortable ride over lawns, beaches, stone roads, mountains and other terrain. The lack of full suspension is expected since this is not a true electric mountain bike. However, adjustable fork combined with 20″ fat tires is sufficient for smoothing out minor road imperfections and don’t seem to magnify sidewalk cracks. The tires are reinforced with K-Shield technology for puncture resistance and this is very useful if you are going to off-road riding.
It is nice to know that the Swift S1 features higher end components such as disc brakes, adjustable saddle (hight and position adjustable), leather handle grips, LCD display and built-in LED lights. The LCD display is very clear and shows current speed, traveled distance, trip time, max speed, average speed and pedal assistance level.
The best thing about Turboant Swift S1 folding electric bike is its battery. It has removable Samsung 48 V, 14 Ah high capacity battery. Thanks to that maximum range on a single charge goes up to 60 miles. Of course, you need to use pedal assist to reach this maximum range. But, on throttle only mode the range is still impressive and goes up to 35 miles, depending on terrain conditions and rider’s weight.
The Swift S1 folding electric bike with 20″ fat tires offers a lot of value for $1499. The bike works well, is comfortable to ride, travels quickly at 20 mph and is light enough to easily carry up if needed. The battery is impressive and ability to charge the battery while on a bike or to remove it and carry to a house or office is a big plus. The Swift S1 isn’t going to blow anyone away, but it has high end features and equipment, peppy enough to have a lot of fun on.
